Oh Blossom was born during Sydney’s first lockdown in 2020. Founder, Lauren Rutter was inspired by the growing popularity of dried flowers she had seen in stylish cities like Paris and London. She noticed that while some florists were introducing a dried option to their offering, it was generally difficult (even in a big city like Sydney) to find natural, dried arrangements in a range of colours and styles.
Not a florist by trade, Lauren spent months watching online tutorials, and practicing new techniques at her kitchen table. She experimented until she found the best methods for drying different flowers and foliage; and eventually began selling her creations through local cafes and retail stores.
Over time, more cafes approached Oh Blossom to stock her unique style of low maintenance blooms, and a year later, in mid 2021 (another lockdown) to better manage the growing number of orders received via Instagram DMs, Oh Blossom launched its online store, selling larger bouquets, as well as a curation of thoughtfully made, local treasures such as candles, vases, DIY kits and apparel.
In March 2022 travel and new adventures beckoned for Lauren so the Oh Blossom baton was handed over to botanical and interior designer, Cass Scully.
An experienced event florist with a love for colour and sustainable design, Cass has opened a new Design Studio space for Oh Blossom in Bullaburra in the heart of the Blue Mountains where they create their signature long-lasting floral designs, as well as host creative events and workshops.
